For decades, GÉANT has been building physical and human networks all over the world. In close collaboration with the European Commission, funding institutions, regional research and education networks (RRENs) and industry, we have been instrumental in advancing intercontinental connectivity for the benefit of global research and education.
GÉANT is also integral to the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, often coordinating or providing leadership in flagship projects such as BELLA, Medusa, and Blue Raman – successful public-private partnerships where GÉANT brings extensive procurement expertise and harnesses demand from the research and education sector.
And, with over 25% of the traffic on GÉANT’s network either originating from or destined for locations outside of Europe, and 35% growth in intercontinental traffic forecast over the coming years, these partnerships are essential.
